Last week Wits University launched the Public Economy Project which does research into public financial management. Prof Michael Sachs who is the coordinator of the project talks to us now about the paper he penned which looks into how we as a country arrived at the fiscal crisis we currently find ourselves in? How much did politics play a role in it and also the transition from apartheid to democracy, what happened there and how much of that became a factor?
