• The Satmar Rebbe was the founder and first Grand Rebbe of the Satmar dynasty, a significant figure in Hasidism.
• He was born on 13 January 1887 in Sighet, Romania, to Chananyah Yom Tov Lipa Teitelbaum and his second wife, Chana Ashkenazi.
• As a young boy, he was renowned for his intellectual capacities; at his bar mitzvah, he delivered a sermon of several hours.
• In 1904, he married Chavah Horowitz and had three daughters, all of whom predeceased their father.
