If we are consistent in living the joy and hope we have in Jesus, people will notice. How could they not? And Peter said that some of those who notice will ask a reason for that hope, an explanation for what makes us the way we are (1 Pet. 3.15). And that’s the easiest explanation you’ll ever give anyone. Our reading from Joy to Your World! for today is found on pages 24 and 25:
“We can rather simply explain to any who ask a reason for the hope that is within us that Jesus Christ is the reason. How can we be so full of joy? Why do we treat others with grace and kindness? Why are we able to do our work without carping and complaining? Why are we faithful to our spouses? Interested in the people around us? Gracious, loving, kind, patient, generous, or forgiving – whatever the manifestation of our hope and joy may have caught the attention of those around us?
“The answer is that Jesus is Christ, the Anointed One of God, the One appointed to bring the joy of God to a world of sadness, disappointment, and despair. Jesus came to rescue us from our sinful, selfish ways, give us a new heart and mind, point us in a new direction, and begin the great reversal of making all things new in our lives. Jesus is our Savior, who delivers us from the helplessness and hopelessness of our sin.”

2. How can you prepare each day to make sure the hope you have in Jesus shows through in every aspect of your life?
Jesus was His own best apologetic. He intends that to be the case with us as well. When people see Jesus in us, they’ll be more likely to listen to us talk about Him. Work on being more like Jesus, and you’ll find you have more opportunities to talk with others about Him.
