“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Trial of Sanhedrin- If you are the Christ, Tell us. But he said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe, and if I ask you, you will not answer. But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”
Trial of Sanhedrin-So they all said, “Are you the son of God, then?” And he said to them, You say that I am.” Then they said, “What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips.”
Trial Before Pilate – Round 1
And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, “You have said so.”
Trial Before Herod- When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had long desired to see him, because he had heard about him, and he was hoping to see some sign done by him.
Trial Before Herod – So he questioned him at some length, but he made no answer.
Trial Before Pilate – Round 2
He entered his headquarters again and said to Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.
So Pilate said to him, “You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?”
Jesus answered him, “You would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given you from above. Therefore he who delivered me over to you has the greater sin.”
His Silence – Strips their Authority
We all like sheep have gone astray, each of us have turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
His Actions – Prophetic
Fulfillment He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
His Silence – Strips their Authority
No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.
Jesus didn’t feel the need to defend himself, neither will I
For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example and you must follow in his steps. He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone.
He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly…
…He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.
Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.
