Domestic abuse against women is on the rise; it needs to stop. Research by the World Health Organisation shows that 1 in 3 women, around 736 million across their lifetime, experience physical and sexual abuse. Many women worldwide are experiencing domestic and sexual abuse by their intermate and non-intermate partners. Recently in Trinidad and Tobago, a husband killed his wife before their son and then committed suicide.
As a domestic and sexual abuse Thriver, I call on everyone to stop the silence. One Hundred and Thirty-seven women are killed every day globally. On average, in the United Kingdom, two women are killed by their partners each week. Four Hundred people commit suicide each year after attending hospital after suffering domestic abuse-related injuries. Say no to Domestic Violence.
By the time young women reach their mid-twenties, they will have experienced extreme violence, harmful to families and society. Please help me stop this epidemic against women and young girls.
