One “Yes” @ A Time

Say "Yes" to Faithfulness

Listen Later

In this episode of the One Yes At A Time podcast, hosts, Keidra and Susan discuss the Fruit of the Spirit of faithfulness. They describe faithfulness as consistency, dependability, loyalty, and keeping promises but emphasize that genuine, lasting  faithfulness is produced by the Holy Spirit and rooted in God's faithfulness. They explain the Greek word Paul used for faithfulness in Galatians 5:22 is the word 'pistis' which is generally used to describe God's faithfulness and the root of the word 'pistis' is 'pist', which means "divine persuasion." They note that faith comes by hearing God's Word and faithfulness is acting in obedience to God's Word. They point to God's eternal faithfulness as the standard for faithfulness in marriage. They identify obstacles to faithfulness such as busyness, distraction, constant connection, complacency, a watered-down version of the gospel, doubt, disappointment, and unforgiveness. Using Exodus 18, they argue faithfulness is doing what God instructs, rather than simply being busy doing good. They note that rest is an instruction God gives for faithful living that leads to peace. They encourage cultivating faithfulness through reading scripture, setting boundaries, trusting God, and doing good. They close the podcast with encouragement to listeners to keep their eyes focused on Jesus and to allow His words, "Well done, good and faithful servant" to be the greatest motivation for faithfulness.
