n this presentation Matthias will be talking about how he came to writing reactive applications for fun. He started doing so in March 2013 and has since written the two reactive applications BirdWatch and sse-chat and multiple blog posts explaining these applications in detail. In this talk he will be discussing the underlying architecture he has discovered for building reactive applications using Scala and Play Framework.

Matthias Nehlsen is a technology enthusiast and freelance software engineer from Hamburg, Germany. He had been working in IT operations and project management for a number of years before discovering his passion for writing software. Not too long ago he started writing reactive applications for fun and for his blog.
