episode 46
Welcome to our Scandal and the Sexy Book Nerd Herd podcast. This week is all about the Ask A Nerd portion of the show. Sit back and get ready to hear all of our nerdy answers to your questions!

Question #1 – From Penelope Ward and Deb J
How the heck did you all come together being that you’re from different parts of the country and world? Yeah, was it because of Kristen Ashley?
Question #2 – From Lee C and Tar Heel Tee
Are there any words or phrases that have the potential to make you put a book down. I was reading a book where the hero kept saying “my lady”. It was a modern contemporary and was just so distracting and out of place to me…what lines are you tired of seeing in books?
Question #3 – From Angela M
Do you have any dirty little secrets when it comes to any authors or books you enjoy reading but might not openly admit to?
Question #4 – From Anonymous
I’d like to ask your opinion on what seems to be a necessary evil…Goodreads. As a new reader to the romance genre, I see and understand the benefits of having an account…but I’m finding it has become somewhat of a toxic environment. A place for…hateful opinions, an ungodly amount of epileptic inducing gifs and ratings to books that are not even released. Firstly, how do you utilize Goodreads and do you have tips on how to bypass all the bullshit? Secondly, are there other alternatives to Goodreads that you all could recommend?
Here’s the links to the alternative sites I mentioned – find one that suits you. Let us know if you set up an account so we can follow each other!

Question #5 – From Kim S
M/M as a genre has become very popular (true/false)? Is there even a F/F genre? Why has this not taken off like the men? Any recommendations in this genre?
Question #6 – Deb J
I’d like your opinion on authors and street teams attacking reviewers. It’s all I read about lately and it makes me angry. I believe that as long as an author isn’t personally attacked and the review is about the book itself, it’s like any other product out there: not everyone will love it, it’s nothing personal, just that readers opinion. This is no need to bully them until they remove their reviews or ask them to identify themselves while posting reviews. If authors like Anne Rice can use a pseudonym, so can reviewers.
