A teenager gets one of those old chain emails warning her to forward it to thirteen people before midnight. She deletes it.
Later that night, while she’s home alone, someone starts pounding on her bedroom door.
After that, she starts seeing the same figure in her dreams, waking up freezing cold, and having thoughts that don’t always feel like her own.

My best friend found an old paranormal forum and became obsessed with the rituals people were sharing there.
At first, she thought she had finally found proof that spirits were real. Then she started hearing voices inside her head, losing time, and waking up to things she didn’t remember doing.
The part that scared me most was when another voice started speaking underneath hers while she was still completely conscious.
She kept saying she was going to stop.
By the time she actually tried, I think something had already figured out how to use her.

I was alone at a remote cabin when two little girls showed up at my door after midnight asking to be let inside. I never opened the door. I only spoke to them through the peephole, and at first they looked almost normal. Then the older sister showed me a handmade doll that looked exactly like me, down to the clothes I had changed into after I arrived. It was covered in pins, and somehow she could use it to make my body move. That was when I realized they weren’t lost, and they definitely hadn’t come there alone. Something they called Mother was waiting in the woods.

This one is about a night shift morgue worker who starts experiencing things she can’t explain, but the cameras keep showing absolutely nothing.
At first it’s small stuff. Knocking. A gurney moving. Then she watches a body sit straight up, starts seeing a woman around the morgue, and realizes whatever is happening seems to know exactly when she’s looking at the security footage.
I like this story because the scariest part isn’t just what she sees. It’s that she has no proof any of it is happening, and eventually she starts questioning herself too.
If you’ve ever worked somewhere creepy at night, this one is probably going to get to you.

I was so desperate to make friends my freshman year of college that when a girl from class invited me to a party, I didn’t think twice.
Even when the address took me way outside town.
Even when I pulled up to a dark trailer in the woods with no cars outside.
I should have left.
Instead, I went in.
The people inside barely moved. Nobody was talking. Something about all of them felt off, and before long I realized my car was gone and the girl who invited me had no intention of letting me leave before I played their game.
She knew exactly why I had come.
She knew I wanted friends.
And that was the whole reason she picked me.

When I was thirteen, I used to sleep at my best friend’s house almost every weekend.
Then I started waking up in the middle of the night and seeing the same woman on the ceiling.
She would crawl slowly above the bed, smile down at me, and hold one finger to her lips like she was telling me to stay quiet.
Eventually, I started hearing her bare feet running across the hardwood floor.
I never told anyone. I just stopped sleeping there. For years, I convinced myself it had all been a nightmare.
Then I moved into my first apartment at eighteen. And she came back.
Only this time, she wasn’t on the ceiling anymore.

My best friend had been jealous of my life for years.
Then she invited me to spend a weekend at her family’s remote cabin.
At first, everything felt normal. But during a hike into the woods, I realized she had been taking pieces of me, my hair, a missing earring, even my full name written down, and bringing them to something she believed lived in the forest.
She told me it could “balance” our lives.
Then I saw the thing waiting for us in the clearing.
And I realized she hadn’t brought me there for a girls’ weekend.
She had brought me there as an offering.

When I was sixteen, my friends and I snuck into an abandoned mine that had been closed for decades.
We didn’t make it far before we heard a woman laughing somewhere deeper underground. Then she called me by name.
The entrance disappeared. Something inside started copying our voices. And the farther we went trying to find a way out, the more we realized other people had been there before us.
Years later, I finally learned the story people in my hometown told about the woman in the mine:
If you answer her, she learns your voice.
And then she uses it to call someone else inside.
