The desire to “know your purpose” is basically drilled into us by our culture. And I thing generally it’s a positive thing - having a direction in life and things to strive towards seems to be a fulfilling part of life. But there’s a shadow side … at least one that I’ve experienced. I think needing to be fulfilling your purpose or mission can turn toxic when it begins to prevent you from just simply enjoying being alive … because if anything matters, THAT has to matter. So what can we do about it if we notice that happening? I don’t have all the answers but I have some ideas based on my own experience.
