Manifestation, goal setting, commitment to a purpose … all powerful tools that have become quite popular in the world of self-development.  That being said, there is a shadow side to these methods … when we become too fixated on the material results we are trying to create, it can close us off from other opportunities that may present themselves in our lives: opportunities that, if we were open to them, may lead us to the deeper experiences we were looking for from our material goals in the first place.
