Scene 10: Interview with October's Winner, Charlie Rogers

Listen Later

This podcast is all about the Interview with October’s Winner, Charlie Rogers.

I am your host, Amber Bosworth. Charlie was one of 30 writers that was tasked with writing about one of four phobias. The phobias of teeth, birds, beards, and holes. Charlie wrote, Teeth. I imagine you can guess which phobia he chose. His logline was: A man believes that he's free of his ex-boyfriend's creepy smile, but he's in for a very unpleasant surprise.

He talks about he almost didn’t submit a script and ended up winning the whole thing! You can read his and the other 4 finalist’s work at www.thescriptmistress.com/inkwinners.

If you didn’t know, you can catch this whole interview on video at www.thescriptmistress.com/scene10.

We have just finished the 3rd Ink 2 Screen Screenwriting challenge. December will be the 4th. It will run from December 14-18. Five days to write a new five page script on a prompt that is sent out the first day. Winner’s get $150 and every single writer that submits a script gets in depth feedback. This is all included in the $15 entry fee. Check it out now at www.thescriptmistress.com/ink2screen. I’ve opened up the registration for December.

Hope you learned something new to help you because I know you are now inspired to join the next Ink 2 Screen challenge and join Charlie in the winners circle. You’ve got some time, check it out at www.thescriptmistress.com/ink2screen.

And, don’t forget, if you want to read Charlie’s work, you can get it on the website at www.thescriptmistress.com/inkwinners. He also has his own author website at charlierogerswrites.com. This focuses more on his prose but should not be missed. I’ll have all of this in the show notes and on the podcast webpage at /scene10.

I’ve also created an outline template to help with your script outline. This is a fillable PDF or you can print it out and fill it in. Completely FREE. It is a short template but you can print out just the scene-by-scene pages if more is needed for your script. It’s on the website at www.thescriptmistress.com/outline!

I wouldn’t leave you without a writing action. Charlie inspired this one.

WRITING ACTION: Get on to whatever social media platform you like best and try reaching out to 3 writers that you follow or admire. Try to make a connection and build that community that has helped so many in their own journeys. You can do this on my own Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ink2screen. There are so many writers in there that really love to help.

Thank you for listening and or watching! I truly value any feedback. If you have an idea for a podcast that might help, you can email me at [email protected]. Like and follow this show wherever you are listening. Talk soon, and until then, happy writing.
