Scene 12: Interview with November's Winner, Jeff Lee

Listen Later

This podcast is an interview with November’s Ink 2 Screen winner, Jeff Lee.

Jeff was one of 32 writers that were tasked with writing a new script based on an image prompt. Since it was November, I sent out an image showing a polling place. Jeff wrote, KEEPING AFLOAT, Logline: A man tells the story of how his Father's duty survived the years of changing tides, only to help his son to stay afloat on the waves of change.

He talks about how he focuses on the process and not the product! You can read his and the other 4 finalist’s work at www.thescriptmistress.com/inkwinners.

If you didn’t know, you can catch this whole interview on video at www.thescriptmistress.com/scene12.

We are three days into the 4th Ink 2 Screen Screenwriting challenge. It runs until the 18th. Five days to write a new five-page script on a prompt that is sent out on the first day. Winners get $150 and every single writer that submits a script gets in-depth feedback. This is all included in the $15 entry fee. Start the year strong by signing up for the challenge in January. Check it out now at www.thescriptmistress.com/ink2screen. Registration will open on December 26th.

Hope you learned something new to help you along your journey.

And, don’t forget, if you want to read Jeff’s work, you can get it on the website at www.thescriptmistress.com/inkwinners. He also has his own author showcase website at https://chithezan.wixsite.com/bcpope. I’ll have all of this in the show notes and on the podcast webpage at /scene12.

I’ve also created an outline template to help with your script outline. This is a fillable PDF or you can print it out and fill it in. Completely FREE. It is a short template but you can print out just the scene-by-scene pages if more is needed for your script. It’s on the website at www.thescriptmistress.com/outline!

I wouldn’t leave you without a writing action. Jeff has inspired this one.

WRITING ACTION: Follow Jeff’s lead and focus on the process and not the product. Next script you write, try getting all you can down on the page and then shorten it into whatever length you are tasked with. Feel free to share your insights on the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ink2screen. You never know if your insights will inspire someone else.

Thank you for listening and or watching! I truly value any feedback. If you have an idea for a podcast that might help, you can email me at [email protected]. Like and follow this show wherever you are listening. Talk soon, and until then, happy writing.
