Good small-scale winery management is all about minimising costs and maximising returns according to Matt Pooley, and he used a Nuffield Scholarship in 2013 to find the best practices the world has to offer. As viticulturist for Pooley Wines in Seven Mile Beach near Hobart, Matt hopes his Nuffield research can be used by the wine industry more widely to improve efficiency and sustainability.
