On Wednesday, Taiwan released the results of the college entrance exams, a very STRESSFUL TIME for prospective students. Today, we’ll be serving up a snack in their honor!
TODAY’S MENU: In our first course, we'll introduce you to a snack called "zhuang yuan gao" (狀元糕) which is related to the scholars of ancient China. We'll tell you why one local newspaper called it "the least popular of all Taiwan’s traditional snack foods". In our second course, Andrew heads into the test kitchen to try his hand at making the glutinous rice cakes. And in our third course, we’ll sample them right here in the studio! Will they be too dry to eat?
