Parents who pack a lunch for their kids often believe they’re saving money while providing better nutrition than a school lunch. However, on average, a school lunch is lower in calories, carbohydrates, fat, saturated fat, iron and sugar. K-State Research and Extension nutrition specialist Sandy Procter explains why school lunches are a good option and provides some guidance for making a healthy packed lunch that kids will want to eat.
