In this podcast, I discuss my idea for a novel I am writing about a robot who comes to Earth with a message from an advanced civilisation. However, he comes to learn that human beings are a lot different from what he was expecting. He comes to learn about art, music, culture and family. They don't have these things where he comes from. He comes from a land of metal machinery and industrial efficiency. He does not know what rice pudding is or how to bake a cake. So, a group of scientists and artists teach the robot what it means to be human and how we work together as a society and love each other. And he comes to understand what family is, what love is, and why taking a break and enjoying yourself is more important than efficiency.
