Engaging Culture

Science as Worship with Dr. Kyle Watters, The Problem of Dehumanization, and Avoiding Escapism

Listen Later

On this episode, Pastors Josh and Brian welcome Dr. Kyle Watters, lecturer in the astronomy and physics department at Sac State and Coordinator of the Sac State Planetarium, to the show to talk about science as worship. Next, in our divided world, the use of dehumanizing language is on the rise. They talk about what it is, why it's a problem (especially for Christians!), and how we can make sure we aren't dehumanizing others. Then, they look at our tendency to want to escape grief and pain instead of processing it in healthy ways, and discuss strategies for dealing with our pain in a manner that leads to health. They end the show with another round of Hot Takes!
