The Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) was renamed the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) on 27 September 2024. The name change, which was announced in the Government Gazette by President Cyril Ramaphosa, follows the splitting of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation into the Ministry of Higher Education and Training and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation under the Seventh administration. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is in conversation with Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Blade Nzimande.
