Hey and welcome to the very first episode of the SciGrowth Podcast.
This is a growth podcast specifically for startup founders of B2B tech companies that are pre-series A or just past series A.
In the early days of any startup, it is the founder who must handle all growth activities and set the overall growth strategy. And even after your company has a war chest of funding and can hire growth marketers, you’ll still need to know all of the essentials to be able to vet candidates and oversee their work.
I am Sean Knight, a growth and product marketer with vast experience marketing technical products and helping tech startups ramp up.
In this podcast, I’ll be delivering short, clear, and concise lessons on growth tactics and growth fundamentals that you can put to use in your company right away.
I will admit that this podcast is primarily a passion project for myself. The several years I’ve spent doing marketing for tech startups has been a whirlwind of experience and lessons and being a somewhat neurotic human, I want to clean up, refine, and archive all of those lessons somewhere, and there is no better place than a podcast.
But I don’t want that to discourage people who don’t fit that profile. I myself in addition to being a growth marketer am an aspiring startup founder, and I want to encourage all the other aspiring founders out there to tune in as well. Because even though they are not yet at those milestones, someday they will be and they will need to know these growth tactics.
I’m still mapping out the details of the first season but I am most likely going to do 5 episode long theme blocks. For example, I will do a 5 episode block on website design for tech startups, with one episode on homepage design, one episode on personas, one episode on features pages, etc.
I’ll also do a 5 episode block on types of marketing. Since as a startup founder you will need to know the difference between growth marketer, product marketers, and demand gen experts, so that you can determine which of these roles you need to hire for and when and how much you need to handle yourself in the meantime.
If you enjoy the podcast, you’ll be able to find fully written out articles for each episode on SciGrowth.com. You’ll also find countless other resources there, since I am using the site to clean up and archive all of the notes and templates I created in the past several years working as a startup growth marketer. For example, I just finished uploading about 15 carefully crafted SAAS marketing email templates that I’ve used multiple times over the years.
And the armory of resources there will only grow as I transfer more and more of my notes into public-facing posts for the startup founder community out there.
So, with that I’ll just say: tune in next week for the first full episode…of SciGrowth.
As always you can find more information at SciGrowth.com
