"Scorching Temps, Blooming Wildflowers, and Efficient Coolers - A Sizzling Lehi Update"
Good morning Lehi The last 24 hours have brought a sizzle to northern Utah with skies mostly clear and high temperatures scorching at 98 degrees, according to the KSL Weather Center. Humidity stayed low at just 13 percent, leaving listeners to rely heavily on backyard shade trees and, of course, their air conditioning. The breeze from the south at 9 miles per hour barely dented the heat, especially by mid-afternoon when it really felt like that classic Utah July.
Allergy sufferers are in luck today. Local pollen counts are holding steady in the moderate range and air quality is considered good this morning, so it’s a decent time to open the windows if you’re an early riser, according to KSL’s air monitoring update.
For high school sports fans, Lehi’s athletic fields have been alive with action. Last night, the Lehi High School summer baseball squad narrowly defeated rival American Fork in a 6 to 5 comeback. Over at the girls’ soccer field, the Pioneers went to penalty kicks against Lone Peak and clinched it 4 to 3 after a tight 1-1 draw in regulation. Parents went hoarse on the sidelines and popsicles made the rounds afterward.
The wildflowers are in full bloom across Utah County, with Instagram and TikTok packed with bright captures of purple lupine and yellow sunflowers along the foothills and on the Murdock Canal Trail. Local content creator Adventure With Anna says now is the peak time to catch the bloom before the August heat dries out the meadows for good.
Grocery stores are getting creative as well. Air-Row Fans, a refrigeration technology company, announced this morning that local supermarkets including the Lehi City Market have upgraded to more energy-efficient coolers. Shoppers may notice new displays near the produce—cool and eco-friendly is the summer motto.
With 15 hours of golden sunlight burning through, sunsets have arrived just before nine o’clock and the Friday night lights looked picture perfect as neighbors gathered to cap off a busy July week.
