By a slim margin of 5 to 4, the Supreme Court struck down a state law that banned state aid to religious schools. This decision shows a respect for the long-neglected First Amendment of religious rights. Justice Thomas rightly noted that Supreme Court decisions in the 20th century went too far, bordering on religious hostility and hampering the free exercise of our rights.
