Samson Adeosun is the Group Managing Director, ASQ Training and Development which launched a mobile app to support and train budding football players and agents. With the launch of the ASQ app in Nigeria, young talented boys can register and expose themselves to world-class football agents & scouts to recruit them for a professional football career abroad.

Below is a summary of the show Scouting For Talent with Samson Adeosun and Kazeem Ahmed

Samson and Kazeem are part of ASQ, a group of companies that focuses on the various ways of empowering & developing young talents. By organizing a 5-day tournament, they were able to scout over seven hundred players and provide them with opportunities to play overseas. They generally lookout for the way the player plays, their passion, the way they control the ball, and their enthusiasm to be involved in the game. Kazeem adds that their journey to scout talents has attained a good level of success.

Samson reveals that it is his love for the game of football and the need for improvement in the industry that he began to scout young talents. He believes football is a game that unites people all around the world. ASQ was created to keep the people informed about the technicalities involved in the sport. They are working to improve the stats of the players they scout so they can be hired to play for other clubs and countries. To make the process easier there has to be an agent, his job is to speak on the player’s behalf, he takes care of all the other processes so the player only focuses on football. He basically looks after the player.

Samson answering a caller talks about the app they have created through which people can join their league and get scouted. You could also apply to be an agent, register and then get contacted for their training classes.

Football is a very successful job even if the player will experience two lives: life as a player and life after football. Samson says that sport is a career choice and when you put in the effort to achieve your dreams, it will come to be.

A caller asked about players handling legal issues because the players do not fully understand how to handle them and Samson says handling legal issues is one of the major qualifications that ASQ handles for their clients, racism is a major issue presently in Europe so they’re working carefully to train their agents and inform them about the\ resources they can tap into to deal with these issues.

Talking about Nigerian players not getting paid, Samson says that the change can only be effective if it starts from the top, collaborations with the NFA will help push the message and affect change quickly. He also talks about how Nigerian football needs remolding, they need to do major restructuring, the people handling the industry are not qualified and are mostly in it for the money which is very wrong.

Concluding, Samson says as a country we should be more open to innovations that are coming up in different countries so we can become better in the sport.
