Welcome to Scriptnotes NOTES: the first in a series of Pomonok NOTES podcasts where host Teresa Jusino will delve into the craft and career of screenwriting through the lens of a queer, neurodivergent, Jewish Latina grappling with what she's learned from two of her industry role models -- John August and Craig Mazin of the Scriptnotes podcast.
Episode 3 is called Double Standards Are the Worst, and it starts with a conversation in Episode #275 of Scriptnotes where John and Craig talk about a piece in The Atlantic on how rom-coms “undermine women.” We’ll talk about how there’s a huge difference in the way certain behaviors are perceived depending on the gender of the character doing the thing as well as a difference in how certain behaviors are handled depending on the gender of the show or film’s creators.
