Scripture Chat

Pope Leo XIV made waves when he declared just war theory 'outdated' in his encyclical Magnifica Humanitas - and again on a plane to Madrid when he said flatly, 'There is no just war there' in regards to Iran. But is he contradicting CCC §2309, or taking its own logic to its conclusion? In this episode, Kedon Gumerson traces just war theory from Augustine to Aquinas to the modern battlefield, looks at what scripture says, and asks the question the Church is really wrestling with: when a moral framework designed to restrain war gets used to justify it, what is the response? And as Catholic Americans - where does our loyalty lie?

Hosted by Kedon Gumerson, this episode dives into the mysterious and powerful story of Eutychus in Acts 20:7–12, the young man who fell asleep during St. Paul's preaching, and fell out of a window. What does his story reveal about the spiritual state of all of us today?

Kedon explores how Eutychus becomes a figure for modern youth ministry: young people longing for truth, yet struggling to stay awake spiritually. This episode challenges all of us to ask what it means to truly be fallen souls brought back to life by Christ.

In this episode, Kedon leads a guided meditation on Barabbas, specifically in Matthew 27. He does so through a lens of simplicity, and understanding the reality of Jesus' sacrifice for us.

In this episode, Kedon leads a brief meditation on Psalm 139, as it can create peace amidst the chaos of the world!

On this episode, Kedon Gumerson explores the stigmas and dialogues around Generation Z, and argues that Gen Z is GREAT for the Catholic Church.

Kedon is joined by his twin, Greiner, to make a tier list of Pixar Movies, from Toy Story, to Inside Out 2!
