People get frustrated. They lose faith. They want to go back to the things that they are comfortable with. A faith journey may involve moments, when you don't see God as clearly. Certainly, this happened to the Israelites in the wilderness. They ran out of water, freaked out, and wanted to go back. It all gets squared away. God hadn't abandoned them.
