Ebenezer Scrooge is portrayed as a cold-hearted miser who detests Christmas and shuns human connection. On Christmas Eve, he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, who warns Scrooge of the dire consequences of his greed and informs him that he will be visited by three spirits.
