Scrubbed In: Inside the VMCVM Curriculum

Listen Later

Welcome to episode #31 of Scrubbed In: The DVM Journey – the podcast where we dive into the wild, rewarding, and sometimes unpredictable world of becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

In this episode, I take listeners inside the curriculum at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, breaking down what vet school actually looks like day to day. From the structure of the core curriculum in the first two years to the transition into a more flexible, track-based third year, this episode gives a clear and honest look at how the program is designed. I also explain how and when students are tested and how the pace of learning evolves over time. Finally, I break down the transitions into clinical rotations (you do 5 rotations between your second and third year of vet school!), which is a unique aspect of the education at Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.

Whether you’re a pre-vet trying to understand what vet school is really like or an admitted student looking for perspective on what’s ahead, this episode offers a helpful, behind-the-scenes look at VMCVM's veterinary curriculum.
