The Soul Enchilada

SE 40: Confronting Conflict

Listen Later

Nobody likes conflict. But it will eventually show up in our relationships… all of them. How we handle it says a lot about us and will determine the future of those relationships. This week, we talk about moving from blame, criticism, and judgement to a place where we handle conflicts with curiosity and compassion.

This Week’s Listener Question:

I have a friend who violated my confidentiality and I’m so hurt. Should I talk to her about it or just forget about it? If I choose to confront her, how should I go about it?

Small Group Questions:

1.  What’s your first impulse or natural reaction when you’ve been hurt by someone?

2.  What are most tempted to do in a conflict: blame the other person, criticize, avoid, gossip, stonewall, or vent to someone else (triangulation)?

3.  How could choosing curiosity and compassion lead to conflict resolution or greater intimacy in one of your relationships?

4.  What’s one step you could take to reconcile or repair a relationship?
