(WDNews) – Wiregrass Daily News had the pleasure of speaking with Jennifer Doherty, Executive Director of SEACT, and Kendall Sirkis, Director of the upcoming SEACT theatre production Alabama Story. The production, based on true events that unfolded in 1950s Alabama, is set to premiere on Thursday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m., with additional performances on Friday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m. and a matinee on Saturday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m.
Directed by Sirkis and produced under the leadership of Doherty, Alabama Story follows the story of a state librarian who becomes the center of a political and social controversy, and delves into themes of censorship, civil rights, and intellectual freedom, offering audiences a compelling mix of drama, poignancy, and humor.
With a cast of seven local performers, the production aims to connect with the community by shedding light on a pivotal moment in Alabama’s history.
