This episode is from Psalm 139:23-24, Psalm 44:21, Jeremiah 17:10, Psalm 26:2, and 1 Corinthians 11:27-28.

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:23-24)

Jesus is waiting for us to invite Him into our hearts and cleanse us of our wicked (grievous) ways. We can’t hide our sins from Jesus; by holding our sin so tightly, we do nothing but embrace our own death, while pushing away the author of life.

We should daily pray as the Psalmist does, ask God to search our hearts, and lead us in “the everlasting way.”
