With songs like “Romeo” and “Jockey Move,” Hoʻaikāne was truly the soundtrack of the 80’s and 90’s in the local Hawaiian music scene and now they’ve entered into a new era. Isaiah Tavares, son of founding member Walter Tavares, has stepped into his dad’s shoes and has taken on the role of 'ukulele player and singing his dad’s favorite tunes such as Romeo, Mauna Kea Sugar and Silver Wings. In this episode, Isaiah talks about what it was like growing up with the legendary band and how decades later, Hoʻaikāne found him.
