The mission of this show is to highlight the important role Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) related careers play in some of the world’s most important current events and public policy issues. For this first episode we take a look at our nation’s infrastructure. Before we address our main topic for this episode, we share some words from President Barrack Obama that come from a panel discussion held at the 2016 White House Frontiers Conference. We felt this statement from the president was incredibly valuable in helping to reaffirm the importance STEM literacy to our society.
Our bridges, roads, tunnels, our water and electrical systems are just some of the many areas that make up our country’s infrastructure. A reliable and modern infrastructure is vital to the nation’s economy, as well as to our health and safety. Given its importance to our way of life, our nation’s infrastructure is in need of wide scale modernization. To help us discuss this important issue we are joined by civil engineer Angelena Edwards; as well as educator, entrepreneur and engineer Dr. Nehemiah Mabry (@_STEMedia).
