The Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) career ecosystem encompasses a wide range of vocational possibilities. Over the next three episodes we want to explore the intricacies of research/ laboratory science based career paths. Professional scientists who work in labs and conduct high-level research play an indispensable role in the well-being of our society. The work these scientists do impact our health, safety, as well as our understanding of the world we live in. Yet, while many of us are familiar with the traditional careers in engineering, technology, and medicine; the career paths of professional scientists are not as well known.

Professional science careers are as unique as they are challenging. Whether it is obtaining funding for  research, or getting published in scientific journals; being a scientist is a fulfilling professional journey.

Join us for the first part of a 3 part conversation we had with Neuroscientist, Dr. Lisa Moore of the Rutgers Cancer Center. We spoke with Dr. Moore at her lab in Newark, New Jersey, and she provided some great insight into her career as well as what it takes to have a successful career as a professional scientist.
