The 40 Plus Files

Season 2, Ep 5: Riding on Fearless Faith with Shantell Williams

Listen Later

Jacqueline sits down with restaurateur and motorcyclist Shantell Williams. Shantell opens up about her marriage at age 16, her divorce that led to her finding her own voice and passion, and what it felt like to ride across 48 states in 27 days on her Harley Davidson – with less than two years of riding experience (breaking a Guinness World Book record). She also talks about her unbelievable connection to Harley Davidson museum hall of famer (thanks to Shantell), Bessie Stringfield – the first African American woman to ride across the United States solo during the 1930s and 1940s, who also worked for the US Army as a civilian motorcycle dispatch during World War II. Shantell runs a successful restaurant: Shantell’s Just Until. . . (503 Sanford Ave) in downtown Sanford, Florida.
