Season 2 of Everyday Ethics begins with a conversation on character and its role in shaping the way we live. David and Bill explore the meaning of character in simple terms -- doing what you should do, even when no one is watching -- and reflect on why it remains essential in today’s world.Introducing the “Integrity Wheel,” Bill offers a framework for understanding how character is formed and expressed. At the center is worship, which provides moral orientation. Surrounding it are the spokes. The experiences and influences that shape us: calling, heroes/heroines, memory/hope, place, loss, and blessing. These, in turn, find expression in the everyday decisions where values meet action. While rooted in Christian ethics, this conversation also points toward shared moral ground, emphasizing the importance of character in both individual lives and the broader community. As the season unfolds, the focus will move from ethical decision-making toward the deeper question of becoming people whose lives reflect integrity.
