That’s fitting, because the Enigma system was one of the most formidable cryptosystems devised in the pre-digital era - and may be ever. The story of Alan Turning’s brilliance and foundational work in modern computing can’t be ignored, but he couldn’t have done it alone. In addition to the minds of Alan and his team in Bletchley Park, several other things had to fall into place. From flaws in the German implementation to covert intelligence and of course, gaining access to the hardware itself.
