In season 2, we will explore the outskirts of Paris during the early modern period, particularly around St Germain en Laye which was an important place for British

and Irish expatriates during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.  We will also take our first forays into early modern military history exploring the codes of conflict and the rules of engagement in the early modern period and giving examples of good practice as

well as atrocities, which took place during the seventeenth century.  We will then explore in more detail various

skills that individuals needed in order to practise warfare in the early modern period including swordsmanship, muskets, and the world of spies and
