Kirsten and Henry (well mostly Kirsten) take us right the way back to the introduction of football to Naples. They ask some difficult questions about the links between Mussolini and the ‘official’ birthday of 1st August 1926 and call for more research to be done into the earlier origins of the club in the late nineteenth century. Perhaps an anniversary with less links to fascism could be chosen to celebrate the anniversary?
