Through Waitangi Day to Anzac Day, our goal to unpack one word in the New Zealand dictionary gave us plenty of reflective moments. Moments where we nearly laughed and instances where we nearly cried. The Kiwi. The word that comes with four identities and countless diasporas. A word brought into a conversation to ease tension and unify. A word without definition in the lexicon. Overseas or swimming in our oceans, what we expect of the kiwi and what the kiwi is; changes. This was an exploration into dissecting a wider narrative over seven episodes. We looked introspectively at the identity of the nation, the average New Zealander and the events that shape the nation. While our writers researched and fact checked, no podcasts, no articles and no news agency looked at it like we did.
