Director, producer and writer, Bethany Sharp, chats to Paige Canavan-Smith (UNSETTLED THEATRE), creator and actor of the show The Untold Fable of Fritz. We discuss the process of devising theatre, taming the chaos of the R&D process, the challenges of working on low budget and the inspiration by Philip Pullman’s short story, ‘Clockwork’, in advance of the run of The Untold Fable of Fritz at the Space (playing 29th November - 3rd December, including a livestream on the 1st Dec and on demand access for two weeks after that).
“This is a fable about a boy. A fable is a short story that illustrates a moral lesson. The moral here… Well, you’ll see for yourself.”
White snow seeps down from the mountain tops of the Neuchstein region, freezing over the valleys and the hearts of all the people that live within it. At the foot of the tallest peak, resides the inhabitants of Brutzenvien and their King. Through this everlasting stone-cold ice age, the King’s son soon falls ill and the King makes a pledge to do all in his power to save his heir. But how far will he go?
