A reverend is murdered after exhibiting stigmata in front of his parish. Mulder thinks he’s another in a line of victims killed by someone who’s targeting those who fake stigmata. When they hear about a boy who had a stigmata-like incident in class, they go to investigate. Scully thinks the boy may be the real deal, while Mulder thinks it’s merely the case of a fanatic murderer and child abuse.

...and spikes in your hands don’t sound like pain.
