This is the conclusion of our interview with George Leopold, who wrote Gus Grissom’s biography entitled, “Calculated Risk: The Supersonic Life and Times of Gus Grissom” It was initially published by Purdue University Press in 2016, and a paperback edition was released in 2019.

In this podcast, co-hosts Eleanor O’Rangers and Tom Hill wrap up their discussion with George with some questions on John Young’s relationship with Gus, certain “extracurricular activities” many of the astronauts, including Gus, engaged in, Betty Grissom, and whether Gus would be proud of the biography George produced. Finally, we’ll discuss what George’s current project is focusing on.
