Welcome back film friends! That's right, Reel Poppycock returns ripping & roaring out the gate with the premier episode of Season 4. Ed chose the 1995 movie "Higher Learning," written and directed by John Singleton, to kick off our celebration of Black Filmmakers. As KC says, Black History Month is *every* month of the year, so our celebration will certainly push past the end of February.
Boasting plentiful prophetic plot points, and an all-star cast mainly near the beginning of their careers, "Higher Learning" is a powerful and poignant piece of cinema.
Reel Poppycock takes a page out of Singleton's book with some scathing social commentary of their own, but it's not all doom and gloom, as the crew still has games, analyses, insights, and laughs galore. Trevor even tries to do his namesake Busta Rhymes (born Trevor George Smith Jr.) proud with a little tribute to one of most energetic MCs in history.
