In this episode we revisit Season 5's ongoing series: What's it like being a fan of those college "so-called" non-revenue or Olympic sports? (Listen to previous installments here and here.)
This time we head into the swimming pool with 15-time NCAA All-American, 2-time University of Virginia MVP, 1990 Atlantic Coast Conference Swimmer of the Year, and 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist in the 4x100 meter freestyle relay, Melanie Thomas.
Melanie shares both her personal journey as a young sports fan and athlete from Youngstown, OH, to the Olympic podium in Atlanta, as well as some reflections on the remarkable run her alma mater Virginia is on, having just won its sixth straight NCAA Division I Women's Swimming National Championship, the longest such streak in the 44-year history of Division I Women's Swimming.
