If you live is WA, you know about our two seasons, Summer and the other rainy seasons.
We get caught up with a certain season, but the fact is if you wait long enough, it will change.
My kids are in different season. They are in a place where, they are little human beings now. Humans who can think about jokes- Like Simone… the other day we were in a car and she asks us to all sing but, I kept asking Eva to sing and when she didn’t sing I told mom that she had a rebellious heart
Well my turn came, and I started giving reason why I should not sing after her – Simone said “Dad, you are having a rebellious heart…. after a laugh…she asked her mom
Mom? What does a rebellious heart mean? Who is this kid and where did my little girl go?
It was just like the other day, I was making funny sounds to her – gaga bubu, gaga …and all those crazy things we do as parent. Now it’s a whole new world.
Take any Parent and ask them what season their kids are in- They will without a heartbeat tell you…Oh we are the whining season, the talk back season, the urging season, the leave me alone season, the I want to spend time with you season, the I love daddy season, I love mommy season.…and the list goes on.
Some time you see a kid in the store with their parent and automatically, depending on how they are acting or not, you can group them in a certain season.
This evening, I wonder when people look at you, which season of your Christian walk do they see. What season are you in your quest for God. Or lack of it?
If I asked you to identify which season you are in spiritually – what would you answer be?
Genesis 8:22 -22 As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night.”
What this verse is saying it that as long as we live, there will be seasons.
Seasons that we can see, the tree changing, the weather becoming funny, kids growing
What about those seasons in our hearts that we can only feel, experience,
What happens when you have planned your week out and then the storm hits and you have to be evacuated and everything you have worked for, is under 10 feet water? – Huston
How about when you go for regular check up and the doctors give you news to start putting your thing in order
Or you go to work, and the boss gives you the notice
Or your spouse of many years has a different plan on your future
I know what Jesus said:
John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
How about when I don’t have the strength to take heart? What do I do in that season Lord- What do I do?
Ephesians 6:10-18 10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we[a] are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.
