Simon invited Jesus to dine in his house. Sometime during the diner a woman came and stayed behind Jesus, she was not invited but she came with a purpose: give thanks to Jesus; she came to manifest love because her multitude of sins had been forgiven. Simon, on the contrary, dd not consider necessary to ask Jesus to forgive him, because Jesus was not a Prophet, Simon may not have committed anything that needed to be forgiven and if there was, he was a Pharisee and could take care of that himself. The sinner woman was well-known by everybody, she could not hide her past, or being capable to do anything to been forgiven. She was at a cross road, like Levi was in Chapter 5. Jesus honors the woman and calls Simon attention toward repentance and forgiveness showing that the natural response of forgiveness is to love the forgiver.
