There are over 200 million people in Nigeria. Half (50%) are females. Yet, female representation in Nigeria’s Parliament (the National Assembly) is less than 5%. A legislative bill (HB1301) is currently being considered which would increase the number of seats for women to a mandatory 18%.
This week we analyze this bill and find that the devil, as always, is in the details.
This episode was produced by Nabilah Usman, Richard Anyebe, Dominic Tabakaji, and Sam Tabakaji.
Executive producer Rahmat Muhammad.
Special thanks to Mrs. Nkiru Uzodi at the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), Rabia Hadejia and Mala Iwa Gbado Ikaleku.
