Men in their 50s and 60s don’t have a friendship problem. They have an infrastructure problem. Nobody has told them that, which is why they read their shrinking social circle as a personal failure.
Friendship was never something they built. It was a byproduct of the environments and systems they stood inside: the workplace, the team, the sideline of a kid’s game, the gym at the same hour every week, or the neighbor whose schedule overlapped theirs for eleven years.
Pull a man out of those systems, whether by retiring, selling the business, going semi-retired, or simply outliving the phase where his kids organized his weekends, and the friendships fade. Not because he failed. Because the machine that produced them was switched off.
The standard advice (”put yourself out there,” “reach out to old friends,” “join a club”) assumes he has a skill he never needed to develop. He doesn’t. He has a gap where a system used to be.
Most of what gets written about this treats it as an emotional problem with emotional solutions. Be vulnerable. Open up. Tell your friends you love them. Schedule the call. That framing makes the man both the problem and the fix.
I think it’s an engineering problem. If friendships were produced by repeated, low-stakes, side-by-side contact with the same people, the fix isn’t courage. The fix is one recurring container, attended long enough that the container does the work for you.

Most people trying to improve sleep reach for pills, gummies, supplements, or another glass of wine.
They may be overlooking one of the most powerful tools they already have: exercise.
But there’s a catch.
When you exercise may matter almost as much as whether you exercise at all.
In this episode, I break down the surprising connection between workout timing, body temperature, deep sleep, growth hormone, and overnight brain recovery.
We’ll cover:
• Why deep sleep declines as we age
• How exercise changes your core body temperature
• Why afternoon training may create a better setup for sleep
• The mistake of training too close to bedtime
• How late-day caffeine can sabotage the whole thing
• What the research actually shows, without the influencer hype
• A simple experiment you can try for the next three weeks
The effect isn’t magical.
It’s small, repeatable, and potentially powerful over decades.
You may not need another sleep supplement.
You may just need to move your workout.

Gain And Loss Are The Same Thing. Most People Never Figure This Out.
Everybody wants the gain. Nobody wants the bill.
Gain and loss are not opposites. They are the same substance at
different temperatures, and once you stop treating loss as punishment,
it becomes the most useful data you own.
In this video, I break down the audit I use after every loss. Two
categories, three questions, twenty minutes with a legal pad. It is
the difference between correcting your course and hitting the same
wall again in eighteen months wearing a different suit.

You Don't Have a Discipline Problem
Most people think they need more discipline. They're wrong. They have an identity problem.
There's a canyon between eating a healthy meal and being a healthy eater. One is something you do. The other is something you are. This is how you cross it.
Drawing on twenty years in emergency medicine and Tynan's work on habit formation, here's why your habits never stick and what actually turns an action into part of who you are.

Sharing an interview I did with a men's health high-performance coach, my friend and colleague Shimshon Meir Frankel
What happens when an ER trauma physician who spent 25 years making life or death decisions is forced to audit his own life?
In this episode of Masterful Leaders, we sit down with Dr. Mitchel Schwindt, a physician, founder, and the creator of Time Leaver. After surviving a life-threatening thoracic aneurysm at age 45, Mitchel underwent a radical personal reboot. He and his family stepped completely off the hedonic treadmill, sold their house and toys, and redesigned their lives from scratch.
Today, Mitchel applies clinical precision to executive workflows, helping high-performing professionals reclaim 10 to 15 hours per week through intentional time-blocking, AI automation, and rigorous process auditing.
Inside this briefing:
The 22-Hour Leak: How automating just four basic, daily typing tasks hands you back three full working days a year.
The Broken Process Trap: Why implementing AI into an already fractured business system will never fix your operational drag.
The Ultimate Diagnostic: How to use a 15-minute time audit to separate high-load friction from real, productive output.
Non-Negotiable Scheduling: Why protecting time for your spouse, children, and personal recovery requires the exact same calendar discipline as a high-stakes board meeting.
Your most precious asset is your time. Learn how to say no, protect your focus, and automate the mundane so you can show up for the relationships that actually matter at the end of your life.

Data shows that professionals using AI are gaining back hours of free time every week, but they are not gaining traction. Here is why.
AI was designed to make you more productive, so how come high-performers are not regaining their time?

You built a career that worked. Now it does not fit.
Second Peak is for professionals in the middle of that gap. Physicians, executives, founders, and operators who hit the target and…
Dr. Mitchel Schwindt spent two decades in emergency medicine and helicopter flight medicine, where bad decisions have immediate consequences. He now builds systems for reinvention. Time leverage. AI. Human performance. Stoic practice applied to actual problems instead of quoted on a poster.
No motivation. No affirmations. Frameworks you can run this week.
