Stormwatch was the second major comic book – Jim Lee’s WildCATS – to come out of Lee’s Wildstorm Studios under the Image banner. By 1996 both books were floundering, Lee turned to some comic writing legends to try to turn them around, bringing in Alan Moore on WildCATS and Warren Ellis on Stormwatch. Ellis’ Stormwatch would redefine the book entirely, bringing a more political, nuanced take to the team, and would pave the way for the critically acclaimed The Authority series afterward.
